Find the Right Class

Welcome to Billabong!

If you're new to Billabong, or returning after an extended break, and you aren't sure what class or level to start out in, don't worry. We're here to help.

Let's get started!

1. How old is the swimmer?

Preschool-Aged (0-5 years)

Preschool

Over 4 years and not yet at school?

All pre-school aged children over 2.5 can start out in our Tadpole class if they are relative beginners.

If your 4+ child is an advanced swimmer, they may be able to start in a Froggie class after being assessed.

To start out in Froggies, they would need to demonstrate that they can:

*Paddle with their face in the water, pop up to breathe, and continue paddling unassisted.

     AND

*Roll over from their tummy to their back unassisted.

If you are confident your child has these skills, we can have them assessed for a Froggie class.

Tadpole classes and assessments can be booked directly online, or by contacting reception.

School-Aged

school aged

Complete beginner, or uncomfortable in water

If your child is school-aged, but is a complete beginner, has very little experience swimming or lacks confidence putting their face in the water. The Starfish class is the best option for them to start out learning the basics and getting comfortable in the water.

Starfish classes can be booked through the link on the right, or by contacting reception.

If your child has a disability, is neurodivergent, or experiences significant anxiety or sensory issues and needs a one-on-one class to support their learning, a Rainbow Fish class might be a good option.

Contact reception if you'd like more information.

Adults

For adults who have little to no swimming experience, are afraid of the water, or have very low confidence swimming, Graham Dietrich is an expert in adult learn-to-swim teaching and coaching.
