For babies and toddlers aged 3 months to 2.5 - 3 years old.
Our Billabong Babies will develop a love for the water on their way to becoming very confident and self-sufficient swimmers.

John and Judy Bonning are the proud owners and teaching principals of Billabong Swim School. Between them they have over 90 years experience in teaching and coaching all ages through various learn to swim, squad and masters swimming programs.
Billabong Swim School has been in operation for nearly over fourteen years and continues to grow in size rapidly as it flourishes in teaching young Australians one of the most important life skills of learning to swim and water safety.

About Us
For almost ten years before Billabong Swim School was established at Tweed Heads, John and Judy Bonning successfully managed the Killarney Swim Centre down in Northern Sydney; part of Carlile Swimming and one of the largest swim schools in Australia.
John and Judy both have a long history of teaching and coaching swimming and are recipients of numerous awards and recognitions for excellence in teaching and coaching from both the United States and Australia.
In September 2006, John and Judy relocated to the beautiful Tweed Shire area with their two boys, Geoffrey and Ian where they bought out “The Swim School” and started Billabong Swim School.
In February 2015 with the success of Billabong Swim School Tweed Heads, John and Judy took up an opportunity to manage the Learn to Swim program at Casuarina Rec Club (Movement Casuarina) located just south of Tweed Heads. This centre features a heated indoor teaching pool as well as a heated 25m outdoor training pool which has allowed them to fully expand their program into squads and adult swimming.

At Billabong Swim School we take pride in our teachers being the most enthusiastic, dedicated and competent ‘learn to swim’ teachers you’ll find in any swim school nationwide. Our school belongs to the 3 major Australian Swim School Accreditation Boards - Australian Swim School Association, AustSwim, & Swim Australia the education division of the Australian Swimming Coaches and Teachers Association (ASCTA). Our teachers and coaches hold current accreditations with the above as well as hold a current certificate in CPR.
The Australian Swim Schools Association Ltd (ASSA) a not for profit, aims to enhance learn to swim and water safety practices, primarily via its network of Member Swim Schools of which Billabong Swim School is one.
AustSwim (The Australian Council for Teaching of Swimming and Water Safety™) was established in 1979 with the prime purpose of developing a sound educational foundation for the teaching of swimming and water safety™. Therefore the teachers at Billabong Swim School who are all AustSwim accredited, are the best and most highly qualified swimming teachers available!!
Swim Australia is managed by experienced aquatic industry professionals. Billabong Swim School participates in professional development courses provided via SCTA’s innovative management and cutting edge delivery strategies in the areas of swimming and water safety teaching (including babies and toddlers), swimming coaching, course presenting, management and officiating and pool plant operation.

Community Involvement
Billabong Swim School is committed to supporting the local community and focuses on being an important centre for teaching young children to swim.
The Bonning family and Billabong Swim School staff are very involved within the local Tweed Shire and Gold Coast communities.
Billabong Swim School belongs to, supports and participates in Surf Life Saving in both the New South Wales and Queensland regions. Surf Lift Saving Australia accredits Billabong Swim School to teach life saving skills in and around water.
We also support local primary, high and state schools with specialised School Swimming Programs.
